Luis Suarez will bid farewell to Ajax supporters on Sunday, February 20. Ajax’s former top scorer will be extensively celebrated around the Ajax – VVV duel. The forward from Liverpool has confirmed that he will be present next week at the Amsterdam ArenA for his official farewell to the public.
Suarez played a total of 159 official matches for Ajax from August 2007 until December 2010. The Uruguayan scored no fewer than 111 goals, giving him an average of 0.7 goals per game in an Ajax jersey. This is an impressively high score for the 24 year old striker.
Suarez was last season’s Eredivisie top scorer, with 35 goals. He was also selected as Footballer of the Year. He made seven of his 35 goals against VVV. He scored all four Ajax goals in De Koel, and had a hat trick in the Amsterdam ArenA during the club’s 7-0 win against the club from Limburg.
The challenge for Ajax’s supporters will be to cheer on Suarez against VVV more than ever. A sold out ArenA will be the perfect setting. There are still a few tickets left for Ajax – VVV.
