Ajax a touch too strong for Basaksehir in friendly game

In Bramberg, Austria, Ajax won its friendly game against Istanbul Basaksehir by 2-1.  Kasper Dolberg opened the score, and Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored the second goal for Ajax.

Quincy Promes and Razvan Marin made their unofficial debut in Ajax 1.  Promes started off at left forward and formed the offensive line with Kasper Dolberg and Dusan Tadic.  Marin operated from midfield and was emphatically involved with the plays.

The Dutch champion and the Turkish runner-up were evenly matched in the first fifteen minutes, but as the game progressed, the Ajax machine, with Tadic at the forefront, gained steam, true to form.

Dolberg opens score
Dolberg, who, just like the other internationals, was playing his first minutes of this pre-season, came close to scoring the opening goal in the 23rd minute.  The Dane took a hard shot, but it went just wide.

In the 28th minute, the Dane made good.  After an amazing attack via Tadic, Carel Eiting and Donny van de Beek, the ball landed with the Ajax striker, who sent a controlled shot into the goal: 1-0.

Keeper Bruno Varela was the only one from the starting eleven who saw action in the second half.  The Portuguese player made an outstanding save on a low shot early shortly after the break.

Basaksehir began to make its presence felt, but Ajax still doubled its lead.  In the 71st minute, Jurgen Ekkelenkamp took a shot, which, via a Basaksehir player, just failed to cross the goal line, and was played back into the field.  Huntelaar then went on to score on the rebound: 2-0.

4 friendlies: 3 wins
Via a long distance shot by Karim Frei, Basaksehir brought the score to 2-1, but the win went to Ajax.  After 4 friendly games, Erik ten Hag’s team is still undefeated: 3 wins and 1 tie.
