During Friday’s press conference, Erik ten Hag expressed his expectation that Hakim Ziyech would be available to play in Saturday’s match against PEC Zwolle. “If things go well he’ll be training with the group this afternoon. I’m assuming that he’ll be available for tomorrow’s game.”
“Hakim partially trained with the group yesterday, and that went well” according to Ten Hag, who also had some positive news about Lasse Schöne. “Things were not going so well at the beginning of the week, but Lasse did a full training on Thursday, so he’s not a question mark anymore.”
Oui, oui, c’est Frenkie!
Naturally, questions were asked about Frenkie de Jong, who has been linked to Paris Saint-Germain in the media. “He already speaks French”, joked Ten Hag, who then became more serious. “We know that the top 5 or 6 clubs in Europe are interested in several of our players. That’s nothing new, it’s been going on all year, and will only increase. We’re dealing with it pretty well I would say, stoically. If it’s all true, well, Paris Saint-Germain is a great club. But for now, these are side issues.”
Pleased with more games
Ajax is focusing on the game at PEC. On Wednesday, Bayern Munich will visit. “It’s great that we have so many games; a new game after just 3 days. This makes the players strong individually, and as a team, we grow from this, too. Last season, when we were just playing one game a week, the players hated it.”
