Youri Baas

Youri Baas has been part of Ajax’s youth academy since 2018, having joined from Excelsior. Last season, the left-back was loaned out to NEC. Baas made his first-team debut for Ajax on 28 August 2022 in the away match against FC Utrecht, which ended in a 2–0 victory.

Baas: 'It was a sloppy match, but we kept fighting'

Youri Baas played a major role in Saturday’s 3-3 draw between Sparta and Ajax. The defender was instrumental in the opening goal with a pre-assist for 0-1, but a few minutes later turned into the unlucky culprit after conceding a penalty for handball in his own box. “Very unfortunate.”

Now, a year later, the defender has developed both mentally and physically, expectations have shifted, and he is demanding more from himself. Awards for Taylor and Baas: 'A sign of appreciation'

Kenneth Taylor and Youri Baas have both received individual honours. Taylor was voted Player of the Year by the supporters, while Baas was named Talent of the Year.
