Brian Brobbey joined an illustrious list of Ajax players on Thursday against USV Hercules. The 21-year-old striker reached the magic number of 100 games in the Ajax 1st team, which means he has now officially secured a place in the 'Club of 100'. Spread over two periods, the Amsterdam native earned a splendid place in the gallery of honour.

Brobbey's journey in the Ajax 1st team starts on 31 October 2020. Having gone through almost all of Ajax's youth teams, the 18-year-old striker is rewarded for his hard work. In the home game against Fortuna Sittard (5-2), he came onto the pitch to replace Lassina Traoré in the 66th minute.

A long-cherished dream comes true: playing at the Johan Cruyff ArenA. True to Ajax tradition, the promising talent scored on his debut. He needed just eight minutes to tap in the shot for 3-1.

Brobbey concludes his first season in the Amsterdam main squad with 19 games. He is the lucky charm with important goals as a substitute on several occasions, including in the UEFA Europa League. Despite Ajax being eliminated in the quarter-finals of the European tournament by AS Roma, there is plenty to celebrate in Amsterdam. The Ajax players achieve the double, allowing Brobbey to add his first awards to his record.

'Time to go home'
After 371 minutes in the Ajax 1st team, Brobbey swaps Amsterdam Zuidoost/Southeast for Leipzig. His time in Germany proved to be short-lived, however, as the centre-back returned to Amsterdam on a rental basis after just six months. They promise to be successful months, with Ajax holding onto the national title. After the winter break, Brobbeast impressed enough in the Ajax shirt in 13 matches to return to Ajax permanently in the summer of 2022. "It was time to go home," Brobbey said after his contract signing.

In the seasons that followed, the Ajax striker eventually emerged as the first choice striker. In the 99 matches and 4838 minutes Brobbey played in the Amsterdam main squad, the 21-year-old got minutes from six different trainers: Alfred Schreuder (1176), Maurice Steijn (979), John Heitinga (935), Erik ten Hag (895), John van 't Schip (688) and Hedwiges Maduro (165). Under these coaches, the Amsterdam native accounted for 38 goals and 11 assists. He took an average of over 127 minutes to score in white-red-white.

Ajax goals under the microscope
Brobbey scored his 38 Ajax goals in a variety of ways. He made the Amsterdam supporters cheer 21 times after a goal with his right foot, 11 times with his left foot and six times with his head. He struck most often in the closing stages of the first and second halves. The goalscorer produced no less than half of his goals in the third or sixth fifteen minutes of the match. In this series, you can see exactly in which quarter of the game Brobbey scored the most:

Quarter Goals
1-15 3
16-30 5
31-45 10
46-60 4
61-75 7
75-90 9

The striker is with some regularity the final part of an attack. He got the last pass before his goal most often from Dusan Tadic (8), followed by Steven Berghuis (5) and Mohammed Kudus (3).

Also in the current season, the counter continues to run with the match against USV Hercules being a wonderful milestone: match number one hundred in red and white. With that, he succeeds teammate Steven Berghuis as the most recent member of the 'Club of 100'.
