Carolien Gehrels has decided to step down with immediate effect as a member and Chair of the Supervisory Board (RvC) of AFC Ajax NV. The search for a successor will begin shortly. They laugh and embrace each other, the old friends reunited at the Baba Friends’ Day. The reason for the gathering is sad, but the initiative itself is heart-warming. In May 2024, Tijjani Babangida was involved in a tragic car accident in Nigeria. His brother and son lost their lives, while Babangida himself and his wife were severely injured. His partner is still undergoing a lengthy and costly treatment in the hospital, which is expected to continue until the spring of 2026. Since then, Baba's life has been turned completely upside down.
