The home side may have had more of the ball on Friday evening, but the chances fell to Ajax U23. Ajax U23 eventually took the lead in the closing stages of the first half through Ünüvar. The right winger needed two attempts to beat Jort Borgmans. His second effort found the net at the near post.

The goal was deserved at that stage. Ajax U23 had the momentum and were putting FC Eindhoven under considerable pressure.

First goal in professional football
Just after half-time, Ajax U23 doubled their lead. Acheampong scored his first goal in professional football and Ajax U23's second of the evening. The midfielder found the net from the rebound after a shot from Pharell Nash.

The same Nash was brought down on the edge of the penalty area with fifteen minutes remaining. The referee had no choice but to point to the spot. Pugno stepped up and converted the penalty flawlessly.

Sent off
Nash was sent off a few minutes later after receiving his second yellow card. The forward was shown his second booking of the evening for kicking the ball away. It was ultimately the only blemish on an otherwise trouble-free evening for Ajax U23.

It was Ajax U23's first away victory since September 4. On that occasion, García's side beat Almere City FC 1-0.
