"This never should have happened," continued Valkanis, who said Ajax didn't have nearly enough movement in the first half. "We were too static, and during half-time we said we needed to speed up our play in the second half. In spite of that, we made too many mistakes. We only really got into the match in the last ten minutes."
Ajax had never in club history lost to an amateur club in the Dutch Cup. "This is not good, and we're in the middle of a very difficult season. But we have to keep going and get everything on track," Valkanis was clear.
The Amsterdam-based team suffered a historic loss against amateur team USV Hercules. The final score was 3-2 for the third-division team. Ajax have never before lost against an amateur team in the Dutch Cup and heads into the winter break with a negative feeling.
