Ajax won their fourth pre-season friendly on Saturday, defeating Olympiacos 1–0. Oliver Edvardsen scored the decisive goal at Ajax’s training complex, De Toekomst. Earlier in pre-season, the Amsterdam side drew 1–1 with VfL Bochum and recorded a 1–0 victory over AEK Larnaca. The Ajacieden opened their pre-season campaign on 4 July against Panathinaikos. The Greek side won 3–1.
The away match against FK Vojvodina is the first competitive fixture of the season. However, the men of Míchel Sánchez/the new Ajax head coach will still face Burnley FC in a friendly next weekend. The match against the English side will be played on Sunday from 14:00 at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. One week later, Ajax will play their final pre-season friendly. On Sunday, 2 August, FC Volendam will host the Amsterdam club.
