Erik ten Hag made it clear that Heracles didn't stand a chance against his team at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Ajax were 3-0 winners, although the score could have been higher. "That is the only thing I can blame my team for: that we should have scored more," said the trainer.

"I enjoyed my team’s performance. The pressing was good and our play was excellent. From there we created a lot of opportunities. We just didn't capitalize on them enough."

Davy Klaassen was voted the King of the Match by the fans. Ten Hag areed that Ajax's number six played well. "Just like the whole team. I was very satisfied with the dynamics on our left side. I saw continuous position changes. Heracles had a hard time answering that."

Increase the distance
Ajax is now five points ahead of PSV in the table, although that doesn't mean that much to ten Hag. "It is only February. That means we still have a long way to go. But of course it is nice that we have been able to increase the distance to PSV."

Overmars: 'The transfer market is getting crazier'

The transfer deadline has come and gone. Things remained relatively quiet at Ajax, but Director of Football Affairs Marc Overmars does see a discouraging trend. “The transfer market is getting crazier.  Actually, maybe they should shorten the winter transfer window. Then everyone would have to move on and you can't keep taking players away from each other. That would give some peace of mind.  It was quiet for us. I often say: If you still have to sort things in the last few days, that's not a good sign."
