"FC Twente away is always a tricky one. We should have shown more quality play with the ball. If we had played the field quicker, we might have destroyed our opponents."

This was the first occasion since March 2020 that Ajax have played an away game in the Eredivisie, where the public was allowed to attend once again. Tadic relished that. "Perhaps it gave our opponents greater energy. But that shouldn't have been a problem for us."

The squad has now had a deep-dive discussion about the clash with FC Twente and is already looking forward to Vitesse at home, says Tadic. "We all know what has to be done differently," leaving his options somewhat open. "There is no cause for alarm. We have to make sure the fans feel good."

UEFA Champions League
Before the match against Vitesse is scheduled, the draw for the UEFA Champions League is looming. It starts Thursday at 18.00 a.m.. Ajax will then find out who their opponents will be in the group stage of the largest club tournament in Europe.

Tadic doesn't mind who their opponents are. "We need to be able to take on any opponent. It's not an issue for us. It's always good to play against larger teams. We want to end up at that level. In the last two years we have met with some bad luck in the group stage. I hope it all goes well for us this time."
