Renee van Asten joins FC Barcelona

Ajax and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement on the transfer of Renee van Asten. The 19-year-old defender was under contract with Ajax until June 30, 2027.

Van Asten (Mijdrecht, October 7, 2006) joined Ajax in 2022. After progressing through the club’s Under-19 Talent Team, she became a permanent member of the Ajax Women squad in the summer of 2025. On Saturday, September 6, 2025, she made her first-team debut in the home fixture against ADO Den Haag.

The defender enjoyed an impressive season, which led to her debut for the Netherlands national team on April 14 in the match against France. In that fixture, she immediately scored her first international goal. The now three-time international leaves Ajax having made 24 official appearances for the Amsterdam first team.
