Ajax has reached an agreement with Chelsea on the loan signing of Femke Liefting. The 21-year-old goalkeeper joins the club on a season-long loan from the English side.
Liefting (Uitgeest, January 2, 2005) came through the youth academy at FC Utrecht. She made her professional debut with VV Alkmaar, the club that AZ later replaced in the Vrouwen Eredivisie. At AZ, Liefting established herself as a first-team regular before joining Chelsea in the winter of 2025. She has represented the Netherlands at youth level and has received multiple call-ups to the senior national team.
Ajax Women’s technical manager Dolf Roks: "Femke is a talented goalkeeper who has already proven her quality in the Vrouwen Eredivisie. She also gained valuable experience at the highest level during her time at Chelsea, where she continued to develop. We are delighted that she will add experience and quality to our squad for the coming season."
Ajax Women also won their second pre-season friendly of the summer. Following their victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach Women, Anouk Bruil's side claimed a convincing 7-0 win against Ter Leede on home soil on Saturday.
Ajax Women welcomed a special visitor to training on Friday morning. Former Ajax player Lily Yohannes stopped by to catch up with her former teammates and members of the coaching staff, making for a warm reunion at training complex de Toekomst.
Ajax Women have won their first pre-season match of the 2026/2027 season. At training complex de Toekomst, the German side Borussia Mönchengladbach were beaten 1-0. The team, coached by Anouk Bruil, made a successful start to their preparations.
