Martínez scored just once. On 2 December, 2021, he put them 2-0 in the lead in the 5-0 victory at home against Willem II.
Owing to a muscle injury, Martínez did not play at all in the closing stage of the season. His last league appearance for the Amsterdam team was the home clash against Feyenoord (3-2). The Argentinian won the award after Ajax won the league for the 36th time. A title which Martínez played a major part in winning.
