“We have chosen a lot of players who fit our philosophy, which makes it easier for them to adapt. I am convinced that we have a good team that can compete on all fronts.” When asked whether he had spoken more to Jordi Cruijff or his wife during the transfer window, the coach gave a quick answer: “Jordi."

Míchel was clear about the meeting with PSV. “Tomorrow will be a good test. It is a very important match. We need the fans tomorrow. PSV have a lot of quality up front. I think the key is to push them further back. We want to play in the opposition half and be dominant, even though PSV are a difficult opponent. Tomorrow is an important match, we are playing at home and we have to show them that we can get a result. Tomorrow we can already see what our level is and where we can still improve. That is why it is good that we face PSV early in the season.”

Finally, Míchel discussed the availability of several players. “Sofyan Amrabat will play tomorrow. Physically, he is ready. Of course, we have to see how the match develops, but he is ready. Daley Blind and Rayane Bounida are still working their way back. In Blind’s case, it is still unclear when he will be able to return to action.”
