Hlynsson got a lot of playing time in recent weeks: for instance, he was the last four Ajax league games in the starting line-up. On 22 October, he scored two goals in the away match against FC Utrecht, his first in the Eredivisie.

The 19-year-old Hlynsson was born on 23 January 2004 in Odense, Denmark. The Icelandic youth international transferred from Breidablik in January 2020. On 15 December 2021, he made his first-team debut during the Dutch Cup match Ajax - BVV Barendrecht: 4-0.

The right-winger was immediately on target on his debut and also scored against Excelsior Maassluis the following month. His goals against FC Utrecht now bring the tally to four goals in the Ajax first team
