On January 5 2027, Kenya's new national stadium will be opened with the match between Bayern Munich and Ajax. The new Raila Odinga International Stadium at Talanta Sports City in Nairobi (capacity: 60,000) is one of the stadiums that will host matches at the Africa Cup of Nations in the summer of 2027.

The invitation to Ajax and Bayern Munich for the opening match was accompanied by warm words from the organisers for both clubs. The match between six-time and four-time UEFA Champions League winners Bayern Munich and Ajax respectively is regarded by the organisers as a major football event in East Africa: the opening of a special new stadium in front of a huge African audience, a meeting between two major names in international football and a defining moment for Kenya on the road to the Africa Cup of Nations.

Ajax are honoured to have been invited to this event. For Míchel Sánchez's side, this serious test against the German record champions will also be the final part of their preparations for the second half of the season.

More information about the match, including possible ticket sales, will follow at a later stage.
