Ajax Women complete preparations for clash with WFC Aktobe

Ajax Women completed their active preparations on Tuesday for their first meeting with WFC Aktobe. Matchday -1 was primarily focused on the final training session. At the De Toekomst sports complex, the Ajax players put the finishing touches to their preparations in order to be fully ready for the first leg of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup, which will be played at home on Wednesday.

On Wednesday evening, the Ajax players, coached by Anouk Bruil, will host their opponents from Kazakhstan at De Toekomst from 19:30. The Europa Cup match can be followed via a livestream on the club’s channels. Next week, Ajax Women face a journey of almost half the world to Kazakhstan. In distant Aqtöbe, a place in the round of sixteen of the European club competition must be secured.

Ajax can do themselves a great favour with a good result in the first match. If a solid foundation is laid on Wednesday evening, the Amsterdam side will travel to Aqtöbe full of confidence. That sounds simple, but of course it is not. European football is often different from matches at domestic level.

Sweat and confidence
The Ajax players worked up quite a sweat on Tuesday. Matchday -1 was put to good use. Bruil pushed her players to give everything one more time. There was also room for a laugh. On Tuesday evening and during the day on Wednesday, the Amsterdam side will focus on recovery and rest, while preparing mentally for the upcoming clash. Just three days after the emphatic 5-1 victory over AZ, confidence should also be high.

Now it all comes down to Wednesday evening from 19:30. On the approaching Matchday, good business can - or rather must - be done immediately. For that opening football battle, the support of the fans is indispensable. Tickets for the first leg against WFC Aktobe are still available. They can be purchased via the official Ajax Ticketshop. There will be no ticket sales at De Toekomst on Wednesday evening.

Ajax Women to face WFC Aktobe in UEFA Women’s Europa Cup

Ajax Women will face WFC Aktobe from Kazakhstan in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup, following Friday’s draw. Ajax Women will play the first leg in Amsterdam on 23 September, before travelling to the distant city of Aqtöbe for the return leg on 30 September.
