Ajax won the first leg of their UEFA Conference League play-off tie against FC Sion. The Dutch side claimed a 2-4 victory in Switzerland, with all four Ajax goals coming after the interval and scored by four different players.
Marcos Leonardo had Ajax's first two clear-cut chances of the match, but it was the home side who opened the scoring. Franck Surdez slotted the ball into the far corner beyond Marc ter Stegen.
Ajax responded in the second half. Julian Brandt expertly found the net from the edge of the penalty area to make it 1-1. Shortly afterwards, Marcos Leonardo headed Ajax into the lead. It was the Brazilian's first official goal for the club.
The hosts then levelled from the penalty spot following a disputed foul by Jorthy Mokio. The VAR reviewed the incident, but the referee's decision stood and FC Sion made it 2-2.

Ajax restored their advantage immediately afterwards. Tolu had only just been introduced and needed exactly 43 seconds to head home and make it 2-3. Davy Klaassen then wrapped up the victory with a delightful lob to seal a 2-4 win.

Ajax, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Ko Itakura have reached an agreement on the defender's transfer to the club where he spent three years before joining Ajax. The Japan international was under contract with Ajax until June 30, 2029.
