Ajax manager John van 't Schip was delighted with the three points against Go Ahead Eagles Sunday afternoon, but also complimented the opponents on their game. "They played really well. We got off to a great start and things were looking good for us. There were certainly times when we played better, but Go Ahead also saw plenty of opportunities."

The manager was also very pleased with goalkeeper Diant Ramaj's performance. "Our goalkeeper today was excellent. He was crucial in the one-on-one play and saved the day."

On the other hand, Ajax managed to score three goals in Deventer, but there could and perhaps should have been more. "We should have made better decisions. When Go Ahead turned the pressure up, we should have thought more carefully. We failed to do so, and that got us into trouble. It was all too one-sided", said Van 't Schip. "In the second half there was more room for manoeuvre, but several times we didn't play great. We should have made it 3-1 sooner."

Ups and downs
Overall, Van 't Schip was satisfied with the win. "It had its ups and downs. I think it was a great match for the objective spectator. When you look at the scores from recent years, winning three points is nothing short of a major achievement."
