The first half in De Adelaarshorst saw plenty of thrills and spills. Ajax opened the scoring in the 27th minute courtesy of Brobbey. The striker made it 0-1 from a pass from captain Steven Bergwijn. The home side drew level just before half-time thanks to Victor Edvardsen, who ploughed the ball firmly past Diant Ramaj.
In the closing moments of the first half, Tahirović saw to it personally that Ajax were back in the lead as they went into the break. The midfielder shot an excellent free kick from Steven Berghuis into the net: 1-2.
Luckily the spectacle in Deventer continued in the second half. Ajax and Go Ahead Eagles both saw several great opportunities. The home team were first to score courtesy of Kramer, bringing things back to evens at 2-2. Ajax didn't falter and made it 2-3 in the 72nd minute thanks to Rensch. This turned out to be the final goal of the day at De Adelaarshorst, guaranteeing Ajax their first three points of 2024.
