Erik ten Hag let his displeasure be known as Ajax lost 0-1 to FC Utrecht. "We just weren't 'on it' from the off. Meaning you need one hundred percent pace and focus. It just wasn't there."

He did look on as David Neres and Sébastien Haller missed two glorious opportunities in the opening phase. "We created solid 100 percent chances, which should have gone in. In the rest of the first half the pace was too slow and there wasn't enough movement. That's when you hit danger."

He complimented the visitors on their game. "FC Utrecht were in good shape, but our job was to find the gaps. I feel bitter and it hits hard, but you get this kind of drubbing all season and this is how you deal with it."
