As previously announced, Míchel Sánchez has been appointed as Ajax's new head coach. He will be assisted by fellow Spaniards Alberto Garrido Martinez (photo 1) and Juanvi Peinado Fernández (photo 2), while Juan Carlos Balaguer Zamora (photo 3) has been appointed goalkeeping coach.
Ahead of the arrival of the new coaching staff, Ajax parted ways with several members of the previous first-team staff. Head coach Oscar García's contract was terminated by mutual agreement earlier this week, and he has since been presented by Polish side Pogon Szczecin. Kiki Musampa and Denny Landzaat have also left the club following the expiration of their contracts. An interview with Landzaat will be published soon in our World Cup alert, in which the 38-time Netherlands international looks back on Oranje's performances at the World Cup.
Earlier this week, it was also announced that former assistant coach Carlos García has returned to lead Ajax U23 as head coach. He is joined by goalkeeping coach Juan Pablo Colinas, who has also returned to the club's U23 team. Both oversaw their first training session yesterday.
