The match in the Koning Willem II Stadium started with Ajax dominating the play, but failing to create concrete chances to find the net. Ajax continued to look for opportunities, but failed to score.

After the break, the Amsterdam-based team continued their hunt for the equaliser. Substitutes Edvardsen and Weghorst made the difference in today’s match. Coming on in the 59th and 69th minute, both substitutions were involved in the two following goals. Steven Berghuis gave the assist to Edvardsen, who got the ball behind Willem II’s goalkeeper.
