Ajax wore black armbands on Sunday following the passing of Ajax player Nurija van Schoonhoven's father.
Ajax found it difficult to break down the visitors from Doetinchem in the first half. Although Anouk Bruil's side dominated possession and territory, clear-cut chances were hard to come by. The best opportunities fell to Joëlle Smits and Xanne Kip, both from headers.
No goals in the first half
Smits arguably came closest to opening the scoring. After good work from Mirte van Koppen, who headed the ball back into the box, Smits was able to head towards goal from close range. However, her effort was directed too close to former Ajax goalkeeper Dionne van der Wal, who made a comfortable save. Kip then tested the goalkeeper with a well-placed header aimed towards the top corner, but Van der Wal once again managed to keep the ball out.
