Jorrel Hato has been chosen by the technical staff as the Talent of the Year for the 2023/2024 season. The eighteen-year-old defender received the Marco van Basten Award after Ajax - Almere City FC from coach John van ’t Schip. Hato played in all 46 official matches for Ajax this season.

The left-footed Ajax player succeeds Kenneth Taylor. The midfielder received the award last year from then-coach John Heitinga.

Hato extended his contract until mid-2028 in March of this year. Last season, Hato won the Abdelhak Nouri Trophy as the greatest talent from the Ajax youth academy.

The fact that Ajax won 3-1 left both coach John van Schip and captain Jorrel Hato satisfied. At seventeen, Hato was the youngest starting Ajax captain in a European match ever.
