The second group match in the UEFA Champions League saw a bitter outcome for Ajax. Just before full time, Joël Matip headed into the net to make it 2-1 to Liverpool. The day after the match, the Ajax team were back out on the training pitch. After all, there's no time to grieve: the next game is already looming on Sunday, away to AZ Alkmaar.

Manager Alfred Schreuder appeared particularly realistic Tuesday evening. The Ajax side had had a tough evening and was understandably beaten. There were some positives, however. Goalkeeper Remko Pasveer put in a strong performance, for example, or perhaps the great goal by Mohammed Kudus following a similar attack.

Yet things could have turned out differently, if only Daley Blind had crowned his 100th European game by scoring. The left back headed it just wide - at 1-1.

Along with the rest of the regular team, it was a recovery training for Blind on Wednesday. Most drills were exercises to get the body recovering as quickly as possible.

A last-minute goal meant Ajax narrowly missed out on a point against Liverpool.  Joel Matip's header made it 2-1 at Anfield, just a minute before full time. Having been trailing 1-0, Mohammed Kudus scored a brilliant equaliser in the second round of this season's UEFA Champions League. But in the end it just wasn't enough for a point in England.
