With the sun blazing down and a perfect pitch, conditions at the De Toekomst tarining ground were excellent for Alfred Schreuder's team. Following a comprehensive warm-up, Ajax players were put through some tough training drills in the run-up to the match against the current number seven in the league table.
The fixture against FC Groningen is their first home game in the new Eredivisie season. Last season, Ajax – FC Groningen ended up 3-0, thanks to goals from Edson Álvarez, Antony and Noussair Mazraoui.
