Ajax are preparing for the resumption of the league. John van 't Schip's side will visit Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday. Ahead of the first official game, the Ajax players have five training sessions on Amsterdam soil this week, with Wednesday being the second in that series.
It does take some adjusting: from the Spanish sun to sub-zero temperatures. Ajax stayed in Jerez de la Frontera last week in fine conditions, but now it was gruelling at times. The wind chill was even further below zero, which meant that the Ajax players had to at least dress well against the cold.

Steven Bergwijn looked back on a turbulent 2023 while on training camp in Spain. Despite the many setbacks, the Ajax captain looks forward to the coming six months full of hope. "We will rock the second half of the season and hope to end as high on the ranking as possible."
Ajax won their friendly game against Hannover 96 Sunday afternoon. John van 't Schip's team won 2-1 in southern Spain. Brian Brobbey and Steven Bergwijn were responsible for the Amsterdam team's goals.
Maurits Hendriks will leave Ajax per March 1, 2024. The Chief Sports Officer has decided this in close conversation with Ajax’s Supervisory Board. His contract ran until November 15, 2024.
