The Ajax Women suffered a narrow 1-2 defeat to Malmö FF in the first leg of their UEFA Women’s Europa Cup Round of 16 tie at De Toekomst. The visitors struck early through Izzy D'Aquila and doubled their lead after the break when Tuva Skoog converted from close range.

Just five minutes after Malmö's second goal, Amber Visscher tapped home from close range to pull one back for the hosts. Despite pushing for an equaliser in the closing stages, Ajax were unable to find a second goal and were forced to settle for a one-goal deficit at full-time.

The return will be played in Malmö, Sweden, on November 11.
