John van ‘t Schip’s team scored an early goal due to a header made by Chuba Akpom. But Ajax didn’t get to enjoy their lead long. Within five minutes, Levi Gracia scored the equaliser. He headed a free kick into the far corner.

The Ajacied gave little away in the first half, and Kenneth Taylor ensured Ajax the lead. After a great pass from Hato, he shot the ball into the goal.

Akpom ensured Ajax a safe 3-1 lead in the second half. After his second goal, the Brit got multiple chances to score Ajax’s fourth goal, but the final score remained 3-1.

Van 't Schip: 'Should have taken advantage of more opportunities'

John van 't Schip appeared before the cameras after winning 2-1 against Sparta. The manager was delighted with the victory, but also felt the Ajax team lacked focus in front of the goal. "We missed a number of opportunities in the first half. I saw some attacks where we got it together inside the box but failed to score. Had we done so, we might have gone into half time with a stronger lead. The goals we did score were good, but we should have taken advantage of a few more opportunities."
