The midfielder was asked where things went wrong in the set-up at Ajax. "There's plenty of room for improvement. I'm working hard to help the team. We are doing all we can to make progress."

No Stevie's
Manager John van 't Schip was not pleased with his team's performance, either. "I felt not much went well for us. We had to deal with losing Steven Berghuis and Steven Bergwijn. It was once again clear today (Sunday, ed.) how important those two are to the team."

"We didn't play much good football," Van 't Schip said in conclusion. "We lost possession too quickly, that's lack of maturity and a certain quality that we don't currently have. We weren't on the ball enough either, so we let NEC into the game."

The Ajax manager was asked whether he wanted to make any drastic changes due to injury. "We are talking along those lines, the time might soon be upon us. It all depends how quickly players can recover."
