After his arrival in 2019, the Mexican played 147 matches for Ajax, scoring thirteen goals. In those four years, the Mexican became a diving spirit at Ajax. In the summer of 2023, Álvarez left to join West Ham United, who paid a 38 million euro transfer fee.
