The season ended after the 3-1 loss against FC Twente. This means the team from Amsterdam ended in third place in the Eredivisie. Trainer John Heitinga was visibly disappointed. "The reality is that we’re going to play Europa League. That is painful in comparison to all the successes we’ve had in the last year. We’ve been spoiled."

The head coach saw an underperforming Ajax in Enschede. "From the start, things were very bad from our side. We played the same way the field was. We made a lot of personal mistakes. We have to decide to play the ball to Kudus, Brobbey of Tadic more quickly. They can maintain ball possession. We made the 0-1, but a lot of mistakes were made ahead of the 1-1."

Strong FC Twente
Despite Heitinga’s disappointment, he had compliments for the team from Enschede. "We played against a strong FC Twente. They have not been beaten at home this season for a reason."

While Ajax lost, it saw PSV winning against AZ in Alkmaar. This means Ajax remains in third place. "PSV did its sportive duty", Heitinga acknowledged. "It could have ended worse, but the ‘what ifs’ won’t help up.
Lastly, the head coach touched upon his future, even though he could not bring much news. "I think there will be more clarity this week", Heitinga concluded.

Ajax resets the rules in white Away Kit 2023/2024

Ajax and adidas present the new Away kit for the 2023/2024 season. The kit will have white as its base colour. It’s the first time since 1988/1989 that the Away kit’s colour is white. Before that, Ajax had a rich tradition of having a white away shirt, but due to the tightening of the rules on the necessary contrast colours of the away shirt and the choice of having two shirts, it was impossible for a long time. Since 2020/2021, Ajax structurally has a third kit, which meant a predominantly white away kit was possible again.
