Get to know Snoeijs: experienced striker with an eye for goal

Katja Snoeijs can call herself an Ajax player for the coming years. The striker has signed a contract until mid-2029. With the arrival of Snoeijs, the Ajax Women appear to have secured a proven goalscorer.

The 30-year-old Snoeijs started playing football at the age of five with Sporting Martinus in Amstelveen. She spent several years playing in a boys' team before making the move to the first women's team of S.V. Fortuna Wormerveer.

She began her professional career at Telstar, where she finished as the Eredivisie's top scorer in the 2016/2017 season. A season later, she repeated that achievement and was once again the league's most prolific scorer while playing for VV Alkmaar.

In 2018, Snoeijs joined PSV, where she formed a strong attacking partnership with Joëlle Smits (now an Ajax player). She scored 39 goals in 49 official matches.

In 2020, she made the move abroad. Snoeijs signed a two-year contract with FC Girondins, the club from Bordeaux. She made a total of 47 official appearances for the French side. In the summer of 2022, the forward continued her adventure abroad by joining Everton. 

The new Ajax player has earned 38 international caps to date. Snoeijs made her debut for the Netherlands on 8 November 2019 in the away match against Turkey. Representing the Oranje Lionesses, she has scored twelve goals, including two hat-tricks in the European Championship qualifiers against Kosovo.

Fixture list Ajax Women confirmed: season starts away at FC Utrecht

Ajax Women will begin the 2026/2027 Women Eredivisie season with an away match against FC Utrecht on Sunday, August 16. Kick-off is at 12:15. The first Klassieker of the season will be played on Sunday, October 4, when Ajax travel to Feyenoord.
