García stressed that the focus is not only on PSV, but on every match until the end of the season. “The mentality has to be: want to win everything. Not just this match. We are playing for European football, so every game counts,” he said.
Davy Klaassen will miss Saturday due to knee problems. “I hope to be able to use him again next week,” the coach added. Owen Wijndal also did not train on the day before the match. Mika Godts, who struggled with cramp in Breda, appears to be fit enough to start, and Takehiro Tomiyasu is also available again after serving a suspension.
Opponent PSV
García spoke with respect about the opponents. "We prepare as if they are not yet champions. They have won the competition in the last three years, with good players and a strong coach. They deserve to be champions.”
According to García, his team is in for a difficult match against a dynamic side. “They cover the most distance in the league and have clear patterns. It is not easy to play against them. But we are playing at home, for our fans, and we have a clear plan. The players understand that.”
Development and fitness
The coach sees progress, but acknowledges there is still room for improvement. “We are competitive, scoring a lot and conceding few goals. But we can do better. I have not been here since the start of the season, so I now have to adjust more than is ideal.” The physical condition of the team was also discussed, particularly the drop-off in the second half of matches. “That is a concern, but it was already there before I arrived. In four matches, you cannot fully solve that.”
Preview
García does not want to look too far ahead and keeps the focus on the short term. “The focus has to be on the next match. PSV is the best team in the league, with the best players and a good coach. It will, as always, be a difficult match against PSV.
