Fleur Verkooijen is leaving Ajax Women. The eighteen-year-old midfielder has completed a move to Real Madrid, where she will play for the club's Feminino B side.
Verkooijen (Utrecht, November 14, 2007) made her debut for Ajax Women on May 25 this year in the Eredivisie Cup match against Feyenoord.
Last season, she captained the Ajax Women Talent Team U19, which competed alongside De Graafschap for the Eerste Divisie title. In total, she made two appearances for Ajax Women's first team.
Ajax Women have been eliminated in the play-offs for a place in the UEFA Women's Champions League group stage. Real Madrid proved too strong over the two legs. Anouk Bruil's side will now continue their European campaign in the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Europa Cup.
Ajax Women suffered defeat in the first leg of the final qualifying round of the UEFA Women's Champions League. Real Madrid proved too strong at sport complex De Toekomst, securing a 0-2 victory. The return leg will be played on September 2 in Spain.
Ajax Women made it two wins from two in the Eredivisie season, beating PEC Zwolle 1-0. Just as they did against FC Utrecht a week earlier, Anouk Bruil's side needed only a single goal to secure all three points.
