Ajax completed their final training session on Saturday ahead of the away match against FC Utrecht. Alfred Schreuder's team will play their fourth league game of 2022/2023 in Stadion Galgenwaard on Sunday from 12:15.
UEFA communicated the match schedule for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League on Saturday morning. Ajax opens the six-match series in Amsterdam. On Wednesday 7 September, Rangers FC will be the first opponent at 18:45. The first away game follows six days later against Liverpool. The kick-off of that game is at 21:00.
"If I'm honest, Liverpool are the favourites in the pool," Alfred Schreuder said. The coach watched the UEFA Champions League draw on Thursday evening and saw Ajax being linked to the English giants, Napoli and Rangers FC in the group stage. Jurriën Timber also had his eyes on the draw.
