Ajax chalked up a narrow victory over FC Groningen Tuesday afternoon. The Ajax players won the game, which had been abandoned after nine minutes on Sunday due to fireworks, 3-2. Dusan Tadic, Brian Brobbey and Jurriën Timber took credit for the Amsterdam goals.
John Heitinga showed mixed feelings in front of the cameras following the 3-2 victory over FC Groningen. He saw his team win, but also saw much improvement high up north. “The opening was fine. We scored, but then we had to push on through. We broke through a few times from the left, but there was never anybody there.”
Ajax turned the rescheduled match against FC Groningen into victory on Tuesday afternoon. The game was abandoned Sunday after nine minutes, because of fireworks on the pitch - twice. With no crowd watching at the Euroborg, the Amsterdam team won 3-2.
FC Groningen - Ajax has been definitively discontinued. In the sixth minute of the game, fireworks were thrown on the field. After the game resumed after fifteen minutes, fireworks were again thrown from the stands.
