John Heitinga showed mixed feelings in front of the cameras following the 3-2 victory over FC Groningen. He saw his team win, but also saw much improvement high up north. “The opening was fine. We scored, but then we had to push on through. We broke through a few times from the left, but there was never anybody there.”

While Ajax were failing to make it 2-0, the home side did manage to score in the 38th minute. "They scored while we were regrouping. Our full-backs just need to be better,” said Heitinga. "These are things we must avoid."

Heitinga feels Ajax should have put some distance between themselves and FC Groningen sooner. "Unfortunately we missed a lot of opportunities. We often made it to the back row, but it didn't pay off enough”, the main manager concluded. “But we did what we came here to do: win."
