Francesco Farioli was pleased, but at the same time realistic following Ajax v Fortuna Sittard. "I felt it was far from perfect. Things should have gone better, especially in the first 30 minutes," he said. "It was too sloppy. But of course I'm pleased with the result and the clean sheet. I saw plenty that was good, but there is also a lot of work to be done still."

The Italian manager praised the atmosphere in the Johan Cruyff ArenA. "I'm pleased the team continued playing football in the final stages even with a big lead. Positive things like that you remember more, but let's remain critical."

Ajax will be back in action in the Eredivisie on Saturday. Farioli is especially pleased that the matches are now coming in rapid succession. “There's no time off, there's no time to lose. We're looking forward to playing Go Ahead Eagles again."
