Eleven Ajax players called to World Cup squad: final line-up announced

Eleven Ajax players have been called up for the World Cup being staged in Qatar from Sunday, 20 November. Monday saw all the World Cup squads finally announced. Seven Ajax players will play for the Orange national team; Edson Álvarez and Jorge Sánchez have been selected for Mexico, Dusan Tadic will represent Serbia and Mohammed Kudus will play in the World Cup for Ghana.

Of the Ajax players seeing action, the Dutch squad is the first to kick off. They will face Ecuador on 21 November. Up next is Mexico. They face Poland on Tuesday, 22 November. On Thursday, 24 November, Tadic will play for Serbia against Brazil. And a few hours earlier that day, Kudus will appear for Ghana against Portugal.

Ajax extends John Heitinga's contract

Ajax has reached an agreement with John Heitinga on the extension of his contract, which was due to run until 30 June 2023. The new agreement for the Ajax U23 coach will take effect retroactively on 1 July 2022 and runs until 30 June 2025.
