Ajax drew 2-2 with Shelbourne FC in Dublin. The result was enough to send Ajax through to the UEFA Conference League play-offs, having already won the first leg 3-1 at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

There appeared to be little cause for concern in Ireland at first. Ajax were in control in Dublin and took the lead through Julian Brandt. The hosts responded quickly, however, as Evan Caffrey struck from distance and, via the back of Rodrigo Freitas, the ball looped into the net to make it 1-1. Before half-time, Anton Gaaei restored Ajax's advantage.

Ajax struggled to make an impact in the second half. Míchel Sánchez's side did have a chance to go 1-3 up through substitute Tolu, but it was Sean Moore who found the net after an impressive solo run to level the score at 2-2. Despite the draw, Ajax progress to the play-offs, where they will face Swiss side FC Sion. Ajax travel to Switzerland for the first leg on Thursday, August 20, with kick-off scheduled for 20:15.
