In a position unfamiliar to him, Youri Baas grew into an important link in Ajax 1's defence within a single season. Now, a year later, the defender has developed both mentally and physically, expectations have shifted, and he is demanding more from himself. "I dare say that without my year at NEC, I would not be where I am now."
Kenneth Taylor and Youri Baas have both received individual honours. Taylor was voted Player of the Year by the supporters, while Baas was named Talent of the Year. Both players expressed pride in receiving their awards. "As a youth player, I watched Ajax players win this award. Now I’ve won it myself. That’s something really special."
Youri Baas has been named Talent of the Year. He received the award earlier this week from former coach Francesco Farioli. The defender succeeds Jorrel Hato. Ajax's technical staff presents the award annually.
