Ajax defeated Willem II 1-0 at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Captain Davy Klaassen scored early, converting a penalty in the sixth minute. Although Ajax controlled the game from that point, no further goals were scored in Amsterdam.

The penalty was awarded following a VAR review, which showed that Willem II goalkeeper Thomas Didillon-Hödl had unfairly challenged Brian Brobbey. Klaassen confidently stepped up and converted from the spot.
