Ajax has reached an agreement with Branco van den Boomen on the transfer of the midfielder to Amsterdam. Van den Boomen transfers to Ajax as a free agent from Toulouse FC, where his contract is ending. He signs a contract starting on July 1, 2023, which runs for four seasons, until June 30, 2027.

Van den Boomen (Veldhoven, July 21, 1995) played in Ajax's youth academy, and signed a contract in Amsterdam lasting three years at age 16. On November 11, 2013, he made his debut in professional football at Ajax U23 in the match against De Graafschap (1-2).

From the 2014/2015 season onward, Van den Boomen continued his career at FC Eindhoven, after which he played for SC Heerenveen, Willem II and De Graafschap. At the start of the 2020/2021 season, he transferred to Toulouse, playing in the second league in France. The right-footed player won the league together with that club in 2022 and was promoted to Ligue 1. With the team from South France, he beat FC Nantes (1-5) last month in the battle for the trophy.
