Dominant Ajax steamrolls Vitesse

Ajax won big-time against Vitesse, playing at home on Sunday afternoon. Erik ten Hag's team quashed the team from Arnhem 5-0. This allowed Ajax to wash away any umbrage they might be feeling following last week's 1-1 draw against FC Twente.

"We owed it to our fans," said trainer Ten Hag afterwards. "We pushed players deep into the field and between the lines. As a result, Vitesse had a lot of thinking to do."

The Antony - Mazraoui duo were particularly impressive. The Brazilian started back in the opening line-up today, following his summer adventures for Brazil at the Olympics. "In fact, I said before the match: 'I am rather curious about Antony. Last year he played Vitesse like a thing possessed'. That was soon in evidence again today, too."

Ajax – Vitesse 5-0 (3-0)
5. Antony 1-0
31. Álvarez 2-0
43. Gravenberch 3-0
60. Hajek (ed) 4-0
67. Klaassen 5-0

Ajax: Stekelenburg, Mazraoui (68. Rensch), Timber, Martínez, Blind (68. Tagliafico), Álvarez (84. Schuurs), Gravenberch, Klaassen (74. Berghuis), Tadic, Haller, Antony (74. Neres)
