Ajax’ UEFA Europa League campaign came to an end at the quarter-final stage on Thursday night as AS Roma held out for a 1-1 draw at Stadio Olimpico.

Trailing 1-2 from last week’s first leg in the Johan Cruijff ArenA, Ajax applied heavy pressure to the Roma rearguard throughout in an attempt to reverse the deficit.

Brian Brobbey was out of the blocks swiftly to score his third European goal for Ajax in the fourth minute of the second half. Edin Dzeko made the equalizer in the 72th minute.
