The Amsterdam-based side had stretches of brilliant play during the first half of the match. Klaas Jan Huntelaar scored the first goal of the game. Quincy Promes made it 2-0 with a well-placed goal in the 11th minute. Ajax appeared to have sealed the deal after Antony scored just after the half-hour mark to make it 3-0.

The second half was less thrilling, but a last-minute goal from Gravenberch saw the match end 4-0. A stunning first half for Ajax helped to shake off the disappointment of three consecutive defeats in recent weeks.
