With no winner after 120 minutes, penalties were needed to decide the tie. Ajax kept their composure from the spot and ultimately won the shootout 4-3, sparking celebrations in Volendam.
The result means Ajax have secured European football for next season and will enter the second qualifying round of the Conference League.
